Book Review: A Delight Before Christmas by Angie Daniels — Whew, Reggie!

Cover of “A Delight Before Christmas” by Angie Daniels featuring holiday-themed romance imagery.

I don’t even remember how A Delight Before Christmas ended on my bookshelf. Maybe I saw the cover at a thrift store. Maybe it was a random find during one of my bookstore strolls. All I know is, thank God I picked it up—because whew, this book was a ride I didn't know I needed. I still love holding a real book in my hands, turning each page with anticipation, and this one? Had me hooked.

Let’s get straight to it: this book is sexy. Not cute-sexy, not flirty-sexy. We’re talking grown, explicit, skin-tingling sexy. Angie Daniels didn’t hold back with the steam, and I was here for every last page. If you're the type of reader who likes to feel the scene, who wants the words to come alive and put you right in that candle-lit bedroom or that pressed-up-against-the-wall moment, this is your book.

Now let’s talk about Reggie. Sis. Reggie is the kind of Black man we daydream about. The protector, the pursuer, the man who knows what he wants—and goes after it. The way he went after Berlin? With heat, with patience, with hunger? He didn’t just seduce her, he devoured her—in the best ways. Something about being desired like that makes your whole body exhale.

Berlin, the leading lady, is all of us. Caught off guard by love. Hesitant but curious. Soft but guarded. And Reggie? Reggie was all in. Commanding, charming, and yes, completely in control when it came to the bedroom. I was enjoying my shot of Casamigos tequila while reading—because that kind of storytelling? It deserved a proper vibe. Angie Daniels knew exactly what she was doing.

I will say this: I felt a little let down by the ending. Not because it wasn’t good, but because it felt rushed. After all that build-up and heat, the conclusion came like a fast-forwarded Hallmark movie. I wanted more time to savor it. More time to bask in that hard-earned happy ending.

Even with the rushed ending, this book? It reminded me why I still love holding a physical book in my hand—the kind you flip through slowly, page by page, savoring every word. A Delight Before Christmas isn’t just a love story—it’s a sensual escape. A bold reminder of what it feels like to be wanted, pursued, and thoroughly satisfied. If you’ve got an imagination, trust me—you’ll be putting it to work.
