This is new to me, but I’m ready for the journey.
Honestly, I’ve been away from blogging for a while, with good reason. All of May was dedicated to one of the biggest transitions of my life as a mother. My daughter went to prom, graduated high school, and started college — all in one month.
She’s now a full-time young adult stepping into her next chapter, and I’m so proud of her. But now, it’s time for me to return to my next chapter — to ensure The Black Girl Escape, my space for reflection and self-care, is also nurtured.
So today begins something new.
For the next 75 days, I’ll be documenting my wellness journey here on the blog and across all my social media platforms at @theblackgirlescape. There will be video, written reflections, and honesty.
Today is Day 1 of the #75ModerateChallenge— and no, I’m not trying to be perfect. I’m trying to be present.
This journey isn’t about extremes. It’s about building habits that fit real life. It’s about choosing my health, my peace, and my power — one small win at a time.
What I Committed to Today:
I drank 64 oz of water
I moved my body with a 15-minute Chris Brown dance session
I stayed within my calories and hit my protein goals
I rediscovered broccoli. I'm working on getting my veggies and fruit in.
I started a new book (Possession by M. Verano)
I completed my homework for my Accounting class (part of my Master’s program)
I ended the day with deep breathing and journaling in bed
And yes — I took the progress pic, even though I didn’t feel like it
I'm doing this for the version of me I see in my mind — stronger, softer, and glowing from the inside out. I highly encourage anyone to join this moderate version of the 75-Day Challenge. I would love to support you.
